  • Patent enforcement practices in China differ from those in the United States in many respects. One notable difference is the significance of the Patent Reexamination Board (Board) of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) in overall patent enforcement. The Board handles challenges to a final rejection of a patent application and hears patent invalidity disputes. This administrative body plays an indispensable role in patent administrative enforcement in China.
  • The forum, co-hosted by SIPO, will feature experts from the U.S., including Chief Judge James Holderman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, as well as a delegation of speakers from SIPO. This delegation includes Sun Wei, the vice dean of the China Intellectual Property Training Center, and Bai Jianfeng, the assistant director general of the Board, who will discuss the impact and ramification of the Board in Chinese patent litigation procedures.
